A flashy form moved along at a trot, head held high as thick limbs pushed the youngster along. With a soft snort he plunged to a halt at the edge of stream causing a spray of dirt and pebbles to cascade into the water. He huffed slightly as his dark gaze flicked around the area. This was as close to a home as he would get for some time it seemed. He'd lived here with his dam for so long anyways it did seem like home.
The bay paint shifted calmly as he looked at his reflection, noting that he had taken after his sire in how odd the markings where. Who was his sire? Matiz of course, though he didn't know what had become of the stallion.
He knew his dam was busy caring for his little brother, by another random stallion but still a paint like him. It bothered the young colt and he had left to avoid being around his dam and brother. He didn't have to stay with his dam anymore either. He was two, he'd be three come summer.
The colt was rather arrogant...considering his dam had spoiled him rotten, and the only thing she had really asked of him was to make sure that any foals he sired where not from quarter horse mares and to give them the Anima title.
Who was his dam? Why it was Anima Chiara. The colt hardly even looked related to his dam having taking more for his father's unknown side though if one looked at his head they would see the undeniable quarter horse blood, not to mention his natural over-all stockiness, but then again people didn't know his sire.
The colt grunted as he started to wade into the water. He halted once the water was lapping against his chest and arched his boa so that his muzzle brushed the stop of the mirror smooth liquid. He took a few sips to quench his thirst. His dam would be throwing a fit right now. She hated when he wandered, but he hated being by her side all the time now when he should be training and looking for his own lands.
His banner flicked though all he managed to do was to stir up the water. He understood why she would be worried and the thought gave him an itch at the back of his mind. His grand-sire wanted to kill him. Anima Tagliente. The grulla quarter horse stallion that cared for purity and Eterna and his younger brother Oscura where basically the furthest from pure that the Anima lines could get, for now. After all, once Eterna was of age and had his own little harem of mares and they had foals they could receive his namesake, that wasn't much of a problem, plus with how his dam was so stalwart about this idea it would prevent inbreeding later on. The colt shuddered at the thought before shoving it away from his mind.
His harks flicked backwards hearing a branch snap behind him as if someone had trodden down on it. His dial turned slightly on his thickly muscled, for a two year old, boa to eye the intruder reproachfully if there was one. This was his area for peace and solitude, how dare anyone intruder upon that? He blinked calmly, searching for the form of the other, curiousity replacing his irritation at being disturbed, since who would want to come up to a colt so close to stallionhood.
A chill ran up his spine. Someone that didn't want the competition of a young and handsome stallion. The colt fought down his emotions though his search for the intruder intensified quickly. Of course he would have to worry about rival stallions. Other stallions always tended to be so jealous of the youngsters didn't they? Well, he would do his best to defend himself if it came down to that. Wouldn't be good to put his parents to shame now would it?
The pied colt stirred his limbs into a walk into he had clambered back onto the bank of the stream and shook out his pelt vigorously before squaring himself up as if he was ready for a fight, which indeed the colt was. If he was to go down in a fight then he'd take the other down so it wouldn't be a complete waste and his dam would know that she had done well by raising him how she did.
Such a momma's boy in the end wasn't he? And he didn't even know who was out there, if anything, after all it could have just been a deer wandering through that spooked itself. But Eterna wasn't going to take chances since his dam had told him stories about his grand-sire so he was naturally a wary horse, besides the fact that he was an immature stallion out on his own.
Then it dawned on the colt. Why should he fear for his life in this of all places? This place was one of peace. Eterna released a low chuckle, in relief and at his own stupidity before he remembered that someone could and was quite possibly still watching him. "Who's there?" He called out, the tone conveying nothing but mild annoyance at how the precedings where already going with this stanger that lurked. His harks flicked foward to catch any sounds if there might be while his gaze lingered over everything that could hide the shape of a horse while he waited patiently for an answer.[/size]
