Name: Sookie Sookie was on the lands of the stallion who had asked to claim her. She had agreet once again. Not that she liked the word claim but after so many others herds it seem to be a commen word. With her head held up high she trotted relaxed around the land. Would this stallion have many others? Would he be dominant towards them. If so Sookie did not intend to let him get away with anything. She was a mare, not a slave. With that in mind the even if she was four, young mare called out for the stallion. Maybe if he heard her, he would come to greet her. Shaking her head reminding herself, that she had promised that she would behave, at least try to, she was happy she could not bite herself else she should have. Bad behavior was not good when you just started out. A bit playfull she kicked her back legs back before starting to walk. It was pretty here, and maybe just maybe this time it would work out. Oh darling, never think that the stallion that owns these lands that he's a slave-driver. He's such a big softy at heart, a heart of gold, and a coat to match it. The stallion had scented the mare walking through his lands, and he didn't mind much. He was expecting her, and he thought to give her some time to herself incase she wanted to be alone. Why should he force his company upon her? So he stayed, watching over his lands and tiny herd with watchful eyes. His harks flicked forward as he heard the mare call out to him. He answered with his own quick call and moved his frame into a swinging trot. He was eager to see how this mare would fare within his paradise. Once he was within a few feet, the radiant stallion slowed to a halt. He nodded his brilliant dial into a polite nod to the painted mare. "Welcome to Hespera, I am August Moon, feel free to call me August though." He said calmly before allowing his orbs to drift over her frame, looking for signs that she had been harried by anyone on her travels. "I trust your trip went well?" He asked calmly.

His answer came as expected and she looked towards the way it had came for. It took a little while before she saw him and she watched him approach. She answered his nod with one of her own. "my name is Sookie"she said to him after he had introduced herself to him. He was a handsome stallion but most important to her. He was a stallion with manners. Looks everyone could have, manner you have to make your own. As he asked about her trip sookie nodded. My trip went well. I seen a few herds But i do not like the pushe stallions or the mares who think they are everything because they were there first. I am my own "person", not property just because i belong to a herd."she spoke. Ok maybe she should have started off a little more or more a little less as a hard head but she was never one that did not say how she thouht about it and for the rest she was very eay to get along with if you took that for granted. He smiled, pleased when she mentioned her name and that her trip was well. He was mildly taken back when she started to speak again stating that she was her own creature and not property. "Glad to here that Sookie. I do not seek to control anyone and the mares dwell here of their own accord, free to persue what they wish. I merely offer a safe haven for those mares that require one." He said calmly. What would she think of that? He didn't know, but he did know that he would never boss a mare around, it just wasn't right in his mind. Of course having the mother he did one would think he was a fool if he tried to control a mare. His mare had her own herd, obedient to her every whim. She was dark, but she was a different kind of dark. She was far from heartless, and she was merciful, but she wanted everything and she got everything, but one thing. A filly to continue on her lines. Instead she got August, her one and only foal and failure. The palomino sighed gently thinking of his mother. He missed her, perhaps that was why he was so considerate. He knew what mares where capable of when pushed to their limits.

Sookie was silent for a few moment when he answered her. Normally stallions would tell her they were the leader and the one that would be obeyed without questioning. Something Sookie was very bad at. But August , seemed to be one that was different from those stallions. Maybe this time it could be right, maybe this time she found a place she could stay. Stepping to him , she ran her nose over his neck before walking away a bit again. "Thank you" she said then found some grass and started nibbling on it. Yes she really had the feeling this would be better. Sookie - Sonjanine

Of course he was different, and it normally emanated from the palomino's body. What horse could keep such a golden coat that brilliant? Actually he never really tried to keep it clean, and he had scars that he knew of. They where minor, but he'd had yet to deal with anyone or so it seemed. The palomino sighed slightly, though gave the painted mare a gentle smile. "Trust me Sookie. My own dam was a herd leader, she was ruthless in her own way and I learned from an early age that even though I was her colt that I could control nobody unless they willed it. Advice and opinion I will give freely, other than that you could say I'm as docile as a newborn kitten." He said calmly. Go ahead and think that he's weak, he's far from it. The stallion was strong, if somewhat short on average though he was tall for a mustang though. He watched as the started to graze. Oh yes, he merely sought to create a haven of sorts where mares could dwell. If they wanted they could leave him, he wouldn't mind, as long as they were happy. That's what mattered to him.

Sookie looked at him as she started to graze beside August. He did not look very happy but she was not going anywhere. She might not be the oldest one yet but she was a mare that did know what she wanted. Sookie her tail swept away a fly trying to ride along with her as she looked up from her grazing. " All be ok" she simple said. It was mostly her way of letting him know she did indeed would trust him when it depended on it. As she had enough to eat she lay down foalding her leggs under her. He was there to protect her and even if she indeed could protect herself , it was nice to know that he would be there to do that from now on. " Do you mind if i have a small rest?" she asked him before she closed her eyes. Sookie - sonjanine

The palomino lowered his sun-kissed dial to the ground to start grazing, realizing he hadn't really eaten much today. Perhaps he was excited about a new addition to his small family? More than likely. That was just how he could get. He nodded calmly, lifting his dial slightly when she first spoke and then merely smiled when she asked if she could rest. "You need not ask me if you can rest." He said calmly before returning to his grazing though he kept an eye out for Sookie and the rest of the lands. Always looking for danger it seemed. Not quite, he just wanted to make sure nothing caught him unawares.

Sookie smiled as she closed her eyes, her head placing on her front leggs and she driffted of a bit. She was never completely asleep and sometimes she would stay standing but she felt like she could rest for real now. she had found a stallion that would take her the way she was even if she would not be different then she was now. But she would be calmer if she did not need to fight to proof herself. To be able to stay herself. Sookie her ears just now and then turned if a bird would sound his own call for a female or a female for a male. Sookie could never tell the difference but she loved the sound no matter what. The soft breeze calmed her even more and she nodded again still half asleep. Sookie - sonjanine

August smiled softly to himself as he watched the mare resting. This is what he wanted to create in the world for the light and neutral mares. The dark mares could rot in hell for all he cared though, they chose their life-style after all. He shrugged mentally as he kept grazing, occasionally he would shift slightly to move towards another patch of grass. He knew it was close to winter, actually it probably was winter just no snow had seen fit to decorate his lands, for that he was appreciative, his winter coat had yet to grow out. Ah well, given time he'd be fine, but how would the others fare? Hopefully well. He could only do so much to aid them after all.
