Chapter 1 New York City The streets of what was left of New York City, were as busy as ever after the war. Even though everything looked normal on the outside, Brendan could tell that everyone was tense, and scared. Brendan didn't feel much different than anyone else, and he knew why everyone was scared, and tense, The Dominions were in town. It was punishable by death if you were found hiding a Creature. Brendan shivered at the thought of being bludgeoned to death in front of the entire city, then having scavengers pick away at his dead, rotting corpse. "Oof" Brendan exclaimed as he fell back, landing hard on his rear end. He looked up and had to blink his eyes a few times to make sure his eyes weren't deceiving him. "I...I'm sorry miss." He could help but to stammer as he clamored to his knees so he could pick up the groceries he had dropped when he had accidentally ran into the young lady in front of him. "I am sorry!" Cassie nearly cried as she tried to help the young man she had ran into. "I am so sorry!" She cried out the words as she accidentally slapped him across the face. "I really am sorry!" She called out to the boy as Ellie, seemingly appeared out of nowhere, and dragging her away. "Why'd you do that Ellie?" Cassie couldn't help but let a little trace of disappointment sound in her voice.
