Blue wobbled into the foaling grounds as soon as she felt something was wrong. Her breathing was heavy as her blue roan paint pelt shivered with the pain of labor. A small cry of pain managed to escape her maw as she searched for a place to give birth to her child. It wasn't long before she was forced to lay down and deal with the pain. She bared her ivory dentals and pushed as hard as she could for what seemed like an eternity before the pain was finally leaving her. She lifted herself up slowly, bit-by-bit. Once she was standing she turned around to see a beautiful dark blue roan appaloosa colt. She sighed heavily, and began cleaning the little one. What am I going to call you little one? her words were quiet, soft, gentle, loving, and motherly. She would never harm her colt, but she would train him not to trust stallions like his sperm doner.

His first memory was the memory of his mother gently cleaning away all the birth stuff that was stuck to his pelt. His second one was prying open his eyes, and seeing the world. The sun was bright and made him cringe and cry out, trying out his lungs for the first time. Breath wooshed in through his maw and he cried again, his legs beginning to trash and splay and he cried again and again. Until he looked up and saw the conforting form of his mother, silencing his cries. As he struggled to stand, he heard the sound of thundering hooves galloping across the fields. He saw just a bouncing white and black dot that was getting bigger. He finally fought to his feet and began to nurse from his mum.
Arsenic smelt his first foal long before he saw him. He galloped up to the birth site with an evil smile on his maw. Have you named it yet? he asked as he saw the little thing greedily gulping milk.

Blue smiled comfortingly as she watched and encouraged her little foal to stand and drink. Her auds perked at the sound of galloping hooves, and she turned her head to see who it was. Blue's auds pinned themselves tightly against her skull as she watched Arsenic approach her and her newborne foal. A snort sounded deep in her throat as the stallion spoke. What does it matter to you what my son's name is? In fact, just a little bit before Arsenic had shown up, a name had popped into Blue's head, Blue Hemlock, she was either going to call him Hemlock, or Hemmy for short, but she would never tell Arsenic that, not unless he forced her.

Arsenic rolled his auds. Come now, Pretty. You're not going to make me hurt you in front of our child? He snarled happily, because he'd surely do it. Tell me his name before I christen him myself. He glanced at his foal, slightly proud of him. He had a nice build and seemed to have all his brains so far. He had not been born sick or stupid or blind or mute. And he had wonderful coloring.
The booming voice of what seemed to be his father shocked him and he fell down, glancing over his shoulder to see the monstrosity. Well, he looked good, he was very pretty and shiny and white, nothing like his mum, but he had an air around him that the colt didn't really care for. He bleated at his father, struggled back to his feet and took a few steps toward him, then jumped back as the head swung towards him. He didn't run or hide, just stood there, still as a statue, looking up at his father. He could focus all his energy onto looking because he was leaning againsth is mothers side.

Blue glared and bared her fangs at Arsenics words. Her entire body tensed as she watched her foal. She didn't relax, even at the knowledge that her son was touching her. His name is Blue Hemlock, whether you like it or not, I don't care. She spat the words at Arsenic and turned her head around to nuzzle the little one at her side. Come little one, eat. She pushed Hemmy towards her teets and waited to see what the little foal would do about her gentle push in the right direction.
